Canoeing from Sampzon to Châmes – 12 km with Loulou Bateaux

Ideal for beginners!
After crossing 4 slides specially designed for canoes and kayaks and enjoying a swim, you’ll reach the Pont d’Arc in no time at all!
Departure: For the start of the 12 km Maxi-Mini descent, a shuttle bus will take you from our landing stage to the Sampzon bridge, where the route begins. There are 4 departure times: 9am – 10.30am – 12pm – 1.30pm.

You should arrive at the pier 30 minutes before your chosen departure time. Our team will provide you with all the equipment you need for canoeing (26L or 56L watertight containers, lifejackets and paddles), as well as some practical instructions on how to steer your canoe and navigate the slides and rapids.

Once you’ve been briefed and equipped, a shuttle bus will take you to the departure point at Sampzon, 4km upstream.

Descent: On the first part of the 12km descent (between Sampzon and Vallon-Pont-d’Arc), the flow is gentle and the route is not difficult. You will come across 4 dykes that you can easily cross using the canoe passes.

From Vallon-Pont d’Arc (1? hours’ paddle from Sampzon), the flow of the river increases slightly (a few small rapids to negotiate) and you will need an hour’s paddle to reach the natural arch of the Pont d’Arc.

You will then have around thirty minutes of paddling left to reach the finish of the descent.

Arrival and return: The finish is in the hamlet of Chames, at stop no. 5.

A shuttle will be waiting for you at the finish at the time you specify before boarding, and will take you back to the Vallon-Pont-d’Arc landing stage.

Return times: To be specified before your departure.

11am – 12pm – 2pm – 3pm – 4pm – 5pm – 6pm
