More information

Bob Appelmans was born in Belgium on October 24, 1956. After a training in fine arts of Châtelet, he left Belgium for an initiatory trip. In France, he meets an American ceramist who introduces him to the Art of Fire, continues his apprenticeship at Périgueux with the filming technique and installs his studio in Provence where he develops the art of touring.
Thirsty for perfection, he went to Boise in Idaho in the United States and learned the Japanese technique of "Raku".
Back in France, he puts his artistic know-how at the service of people in social difficulties physically handicapped, in centers of activities related to personal development.
He emerges from the technique of the lathe and focuses his work on modeling and sculpture. He sets up his workshop in Saint Rémy de Provence, develops his creations, while welcoming children and adults to transmit his passion for terracotta.
His research leads him to create works with dramatic or humorous meanings and moves from figurative work to abstraction with the unceasing joy of discovery.
