Canoë – Kayak Ruoms à Sauze – 37km / 2 jours avec Patou Bateau

Departure: Meet at 8:00 am at our reception in Sauze. The shuttle leaves at 8:30 am. Departure at 10:30 am is possible in July/August.
Equipment return scheduled for the following day: 4:30 pm / 5:00 pm.
Set off on an exceptional adventure with the Maxi Réserve, one of the most intense routes in the Ardèche. Over two full days, this descent immerses you in a majestic setting where every turn brings its own share of thrills. From the start in Ruoms, the river comes alive: playful slides that awaken your playful spirit, then invigorating rapids that offer a dose of adrenaline, and calmer passages where you can let yourself be carried away into the heart of a landscape sculpted by millions of years.
This longer and more athletic route appeals to both fitness enthusiasts and lovers of authentic nature. As the day progresses, the cliffs rise up, the light changes, and the sensations follow one after another. The Maxi Reserve is the perfect balance between sporting challenge, total disconnection and continuous wonder.
At dusk, the adventure takes on an even more magical dimension: a night camping or bivouacking by the water. A timeless interlude where you share a simple meal, gaze at the stars and savour the rare feeling of being in the heart of a wild sanctuary.
The next morning, the descent continues towards what makes the route so famous: the entrance to the Gorges de l’Ardèche Nature Reserve. Grand silence, monumental cliffs, discreet but omnipresent wildlife… You will experience an unforgettable finale, carried away by the raw beauty of this legendary canyon.
More than just a route, the Maxi Reserve is an immersive, athletic and deeply exotic experience — a journey where every moment reminds you of the power of nature.
You must be in good physical condition, know how to swim and be over 7 years old. You will set off independently without a guide.
Ideal clothing:
Shoes that stay on your feet (old trainers or water sandals, avoid laces)
Long shorts and T-shirt (sun protection recommended)
Cap and sunglasses, with a cord to keep them on
Out of season: woollen jumper, windbreaker and a change of clothes

Don’t forget:
Your camping essentials (sleeping bags, change of clothes, warm clothes for the evening)
Swimsuit and towel
At least 1.5 litres of water per person and a picnic (avoid heat-sensitive foods)
Change of clothes for arrival
Avoid wearing valuable items: rings, chains, fragile accessories
