Did you know?

In 1783, the Montgolfier brothers succeeded in launching the first hot air balloon from Annonay, an event that is celebrated every year with a three-day festival.

Whatever kind of festival you fancy, you will find your favourite here in Ardeche.

Food festivals

With so many quality products coming from Ardeche, food festivals take place all year round to celebrate everything from blueberries and courgettes to violets, onions and even ‘bugnes’, a local doughnut.  There are no limits to the tasty treats on offer.  In autumn, ‘Les Castagnades’ chestnut festival takes place in villages across the region whilst ‘Le Fascinant Weekend’ is a must-do for wine lovers.  And in winter, the truffle market is a treat for fans of this gourmet delicacy.

Sports events

Ardeche is packed with possibilities for a sporting challenge.   Get on your bike and try the famous Ardechoise cycle race in June or the new fun or challenging cycling event, Ardeche Gravel. Or maybe put your trainers on and try running the Chaussée des Géants or Giant’s Pavement Trail at Thueyts.  If you are still in need of a work out, book a place on the Marathon International des Gorges – a legendary race through the beautiful Ardeche Gorges by canoe.
