Chestnut basket-weaving workshop: The art of weaving fibres is ancient and highly varied. This introductory course invites you to discover an ancestral technique for making your own chestnut basket.
This 2-day course introduces you to basket-making and working with chestnut. You'll learn all the steps involved in making a basket. These introductory courses are open to all adult amateurs.
Courses organised on request, registration by e-mail essential (1 to 4 people maximum).
Aims:
Make an all-chestnut basket
Master basket-making tools
Discover how to work with chestnut
Prepare the wood (over a fire)
Create the structure
Make the splints for weaving
The workshop will provide you with the wood, tools and materials you need: a sarpet or serpette, measuring tape, splitting tool, awl, pruning shears, wire cutters, string, rags, hammer, nails and wood.
Make sure you wear comfortable clothing (depending on the weather) that won’t burn (we heat the wood over the fire).
