Alba Castle

11th-century keep, 15th – 17th-century castle, an astonishing 19th-century trompe l'œil façade. Inside the castle, there are two floors of furnished period rooms where temporary exhibitions can be admired.

Two castles in once:
– The old castle with facade from the 11th century, the bartizan and the north facade which is partly ruined from the 15th century, the optical illusion from the 19th century, “hiding the ruins”.
– The new castle which was built in the 17th century containing rooms and items from the 15th century (an expansion was done at this time); important transformations were done at the first level in the 19th century.
First dungeon from the 12th century is still visible from the castle’park.
The Renaissance castle, with massive transformations during the 19th century, combined military, prestigious and housing functions.

You can dicover three modern art exhibitions by year (in spring, summer and autumn) and chamber music concerts in summer. Timetables are availabe at the intercommunal tourist office. Sometimes, the castle hosts ceremonies.

Alba castle is listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments. It has an important public interest with his ancient city, his medieval village and his geological nature.
