Boulieu-les-Annonay, medieval village

Fortified village surrounded by 10 towers, 7 of which can still be seen. The outer walls are easy to retrace.

A fortified village flanked by 11 towers, 8 of which are still visible; the surrounding walls are very easy to spot. Built on a gently sloping hill at an altitude of 420 metres, its location at the foot of the small Colombier hill – which shelters it from the north winds – combined with the sturdiness of its towers and the thickness of its walls, made it a safe and pleasant place to live during turbulent times. A large number of very prominent families had made their home there.

In the village, you can enjoy a playground, a pump track, a multi-sports ground and the Parc du Lion d’Or, all accessible via the Chemin du Lavoir.
