Eglise de Saint-Martin d'Ardèche

Photo 2
Caution : Floods ! The church has been built during the XIIth century, it has been flooded several times. At the porch, there is a sculpture and a huge pilgrim's scallop reminds us that St-Martin is on one of the Caminos de Santiago de Compostela.
On the XIII century the "Santus Martinus de Petra" parish has been created, then the church has been built on a carolingian edifice. First the transept has been built between the XVI and the XVII century, then, on the XIX century, the porch, sacristy, and the church tower.
A cast-iron plate on the pillar of the porch reminds us of one of the biggest floods of the Ardèche that took place on the 22th of September 1890.
