Huts of stone called "capitelles" or "bories"
All these constructions give evidence to a rich past of pastoralism and agriculture and demonstrate the know-how and the practical orientation of many generations of farmers in their attempt to rationally and economically organise their environment.
Since 1994, an inventory has made the localisation of hundreds of dry stone constructions possible : old enclosing walls, dozens of cabins, watch towers to monitor the cattle as well as the so-called « acalas », constructions to protect against wind. You can find these dry stone constructions often in not so hilly and open areas, near villages, hamlets and isolated farms.
