Rhône's embankment

The banks of the Rhône are ideal for cycling along the Viarhona, as well as for easy strolls along the lônes (branches of the river) with family or friends. Fishermen tease the huge fish that abound in these waters.

The Rhône also marks out borders, today that of the Ardèche department, but it has also been an important resource for fishing and agriculture (cultivated islands and fertile banks).
Its quays were used for trade and for transporting travelers, some of whom were famous, such as Sand, Musset and Stendhal, who stayed in one of the town’s many inns. They were particularly redeveloped in the 18th and 19th centuries.
