Temple
This historic structure, tracing roots to the 17th century and linked to Protestants since 1570, became a faith temple in 1819. Through faithful generosity, the Reformed Church purchased a Condoie Alley house for this purpose.
The first project was launched in 1854, and the construction works were awarded on 27 October 1861 to Louis Coulomb from Le Cheylard.
On 7 August 1864, during the reign of Napoleon III, the inauguration of this temple, described as “worthy of the district capital”, marked the successful completion of the hopes and efforts of the Protestant community of Lamastre.
The ceremony brought together Protestants from the consistory, as well as Catholics and representatives of the municipality. More than one thousand people attended, although the building could only accommodate 570 seated people.
In 1887, the pulpit was restored and a pavement was created in front of the main façade. In 2004, the renovation of the façade and gutters was successfully completed.
