The protective fountains of the city of Lamastre

Photo 2
Once a stonecutting journeyman with the Compagnons du Devoir, aiming to embody a symbol of the city's protection, erected statues of dogs on the fountains around Lamastre.
These zoomorphic fountains, decorated with animal-shaped sculptures, were once placed along the roads leading to the village.
One of them, already marked by the passage of time, still stands 2 km before Le Crestet. A second one, now restored, is located halfway between Lamastre and Saint-Barthélemy-Grozon.
At one time, there were four of these fountains in total.
