Rural life, suspense, and libido: these are the pillars of the singular universe of Alain Guiraudie, the cult writer and director (of Stranger by the Lake, among others), which actor and director Maurin Ollès brilliantly transposes to the stage in the form of an ingenious detective comedy.

A lot happens in the Aveyron countryside! Murders, sexual frenzy, supernatural experiences: in the hands of filmmaker and author Alain Guiraudie, the fictional village of Gogueluz is the setting for countless adventures blending desire and humor. It is from this rich literary material that Maurin Ollès draws to compose And Here I Am in My Reveries, a delirious duo combining theater and film projected on stage. Adapted from a fraction of the thousand pages of Rabalaïre (published in 2021 and already adapted for the screen by Guiraudie himself in Miséricorde), the play follows the wanderings of the intriguing Jacques Bangor, an unemployed cyclist who insinuates himself into the lives of the inhabitants of a small town, particularly that of a priest with dubious intentions. From this pursuit of the improbable, the director crafts a theatrical thriller brimming with humanity, funny, even slapstick, and carried by a duo of actors (including the impressive Pierre Maillet, a regular at La Comédie) who bring to life a gallery of astonishing characters.
