Couleur Kafé invites you to a philosophical discussion on ethics, emotions, and reason.
Led by Gunnar Salthe, with the participation of Françoise Dastur.
Our actions have goals. They motivate us enough to give us a reason to act.
Our actions therefore have an emotional basis. The same goes for morality. Morality affects our behavior and its motivation.
It also corrects our laws and social institutions. We do not like immoral behavior or motivations, nor social injustice.
These discontents inspire us to act.
Actions also require reason: because we need to know how to act to achieve our goals. Ethics is therefore never only emotional. But without emotions, reason is useless.
