Berlioz Orchestral”
Two orchestras and local choirs celebrate Berlioz
Originally scheduled as part of the 2026 edition of Labeaume en Musiques, in partnership with ClapOlocos, the “Berlioz Orchestral” concert had to be cancelled due to the risk of thunderstorms. It has now been rescheduled for Saturday, September 19. The venue remains Place Palamos, in the Oliviers district, and admission is still free!
In 1840, Berlioz himself conducted his Grande Symphonie funèbre et triomphale under the Parisian sky, paying tribute to the heroes of the July Revolution of 1830. This orchestral epic unfolds in three movements: a poignant Funeral March in memory of the victims, a Funeral Oration entrusted to the solo trombone, rising above the orchestra like an opera singer, and finally a triumphant Apotheosis celebrating the heroes. Berlioz unleashes all his creative energy, taking us to the shores of an intense and passionate Romanticism.
Two orchestras have come together especially for the occasion to take on the challenge of performing this iconic work, whose finale will feature local choirs and singers.
