King Charles V, whose motto is ‘Three Makes Eight and Eight Makes Sixteen’, reigns as a tyrant over the kingdom of Takicardie. Only a cheerful, chatty Bird, who has built his nest at the top of the gigantic palace, right next to His Majesty’s secret chambers, dares to defy him. The King is in love with a charming, modest Shepherdess whom he wishes to marry by force. But she loves a young Chimney Sweep. The two of them run away to escape the King…
