The Vans region offers a remarkable snapshot of the geological history of southern Ardèche. Here, the rocks tell the story of nearly 550 million years of the Earth’s evolution, from ancient formations to the landscapes we know today.
Limestone cliffs, plateaus, valleys, Cévennes slopes, and granite outcrops bear witness to a remarkable chronology. Each rock corresponds to a stage in our planet’s history, represented by several remarkable geosites in the region recognized by UNESCO for their scientific and scenic value.
