Film: Gasherbrum, the Shining Mountain
Werner Herzog’s film recounts the extraordinary ascent of two peaks in the Karakoram range, both over 8,000 metres high, by mountaineers Reinhold Messner and Hans Kammerlander in June 1984.
Film screening followed by a meet-and-greet with the artists and drinks.
This screening forms part of the Loge22 collective’s artist residency in Montpezat-sous-Bauzon, organised in partnership with the local council, the Montpezat-sous-Bauzon media library and the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Nature Park.
Werner Herzog’s *Gasherbrum, the Luminous Mountain* serves as the starting point for the collective’s new production, *Gasherbrum / Éroder les cimes*. Through this production, the artists explore the mountain, high-altitude landscapes and the relationship between the body and vertigo, gravity and the environment, in a fusion of dance and literature.
The screening offers an opportunity to discover the work that inspired this research and to meet the artists from the Loge22 collective as they discuss their creative process. This is a first step before seeing their work on stage a few days later.
An initiative organised in collaboration with the Loge22 collective as part of the Format association’s artistic programme and the Nomades project of the Nos Lieux Communs network.
