A 1h30 adventure through the star-shaped medieval streets, where you'll discover the heritage of the Lords of Jaujac and their picturesque Chastelas castle, its river and its ancient volcano!
If another themed tour (tasting tour) is scheduled for a Friday in the village, the guided tour will not take place.
Surrounded by the Cévennes greenhouses, nestled between the youngest volcano
in Ardèche and long basalt flows, Jaujac enchants
visitors with the beauty of its sites. The village takes its name from the former lordship of the Jaujacs, who lived in the 12th century and resided at the Château du Chastelas on the left bank of the river. A medieval star-shaped village, it is built around a tree-lined square adorned with a fountain. Nearby are many places of interest, such as the Coupe de Jaujac, the remains of an ancient volcano. The ‘Roman’ bridge of Chastelas crosses a tributary of the Lignon on the way to the spa resort of Neyrac-Les Bains.
