L'Automnal Gourmand – Castagnades : "Foire à la châtaigne"
The village of Désaignes, classified as a "village of character" honours its emblematic fruit during its symbolic "Chestnut Festival". The old village comes alive with all sorts of activities, producers and craftsmen.
3rd Saturday of October – afternoon
Guided hike along the chestnut grove trail, guided tours of the village or castle, chestnut marking with live music, soup and roasted chestnuts.
3rd Sunday of October
Guided walk (terrace trail and vineyard house – 1.5 hours), guided tours of the castle, inauguration of the Fair with the Confrérie de la Châtaigne, Ardèche-style bombine meal, cooking demonstration.
Theme: “AOP Châtaigne d’Ardèche”.
All day in the old village:
Street music, farmers’ market, traditional bread oven, large market, exhibitions, château-museum, working forge and clog-maker’s workshop, fairground rides, apple juice, roasted chestnuts, and stalls hosted by the Fair Committee, the Interprofessional Committee for Ardèche Chestnuts and the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Nature Park.
