Léopold Ollier, Pioneer in Bone Surgery
Visit the Musée des Vans to see the exhibition dedicated to Léopold Ollier, a pioneer in bone surgery. A family-friendly, international cultural event you won’t want to miss! Please note: Some photos may be disturbing to young children.
Born in Les Vans in 1830, Léopold Ollier was one of the most innovative doctors of the 19th century. Still regarded today as the father of modern orthopedic surgery, he profoundly transformed the way bones, joints, and serious injuries were treated, paving the way for conservative and reconstructive surgery.
Ollier’s legacy has gradually faded from the collective memory, so this exhibition aims to restore his work to the public consciousness.
