*Ay Madre Mia!* is a play inspired by the true story of ‘Lola’ Dolores Moreno Raposo. Drawing on Spanish court records, eyewitness accounts and family memories, the play traces the fate of a 28-year-old woman, a mother of three, who faced the repression of a 20th-century European dictatorship. It is also a tragicomedy punctuated by music, dance and songs, because, even under repression, singing and dancing remain acts of resistance. We draw strength from one another; we allow ourselves to feel joy!
