Roasting chestnuts during harvest season is a very old tradition in the Ardèche region. From October to November, locals and chestnut farmers would gather in village squares for a convivial celebration.

Today, when the chestnut groves are covered in ochre, the villages of the Monts d’Ardèche Natural Park continue the tradition and live to the rhythm of the Castagnades. From mid-October to mid-November, every weekend, they celebrate the small fruit of the breadfruit tree.
