Fifi, a quiet little chap, a sort of anti-artist, a kind of art brut artist who is paréidolically funny and tender! In his cheerfully messy studio, he creates lamps, sculptures and characters from recycled materials.
It all starts with finds. Years of building sites, wanderings through abandoned sites, visits to scrap metal dealers, attic sales and pavements (it makes him happy, but shame on you if you don't take the time to go to the tip!).
These materials and parts accumulate in his world, some of them waiting for years to be assembled into a creation. His goal is to give a second life to these objects that are often destined for the rubbish bin. He loves things that have lived, these forgotten objects that he saves by reviving them for a resurrection. It’s like a kind of snub to overconsumption…
It is by dismantling and dissecting objects that he finds these devilishly pareidolic little pieces!
Inside our rubbish, treasures await me!
His work is all about finesse, all his assemblages are simply screwed, bolted, tied, riveted, crimped, but no glue or welding.
For the pleasure of the eyes, the poetry, the humour that he hopes will bring smiles… so rare in these gloomy times.
Let’s be serious, let’s stay alert!
Ps People often ask him… pareidolia is the art of seeing faces everywhere, in clouds, rocks, etc… he discovers gazes in all these pieces…
