Itinerary details
Welcome to Les Vans. The valleys here are steep and carved into the schist. The surrounding villages seem to cling to the slopes, their roofs covered in slate. Vine cultivation and the rise of the silk industry have left their mark on the architecture.
From the very first few meters, the route follows the river through peaceful surroundings before gently climbing toward the lush hills. Shaded areas provide welcome relief from the heat, and the higher ground reveals magnificent panoramic views of valleys carved by time. Continuing north, you’ll follow the great meander, an iconic and ever-impressive natural spectacle. The descent toward Les Salelles offers an open landscape where villages, forests, and limestone cliffs blend together. Further on, the road becomes smoother and invites you to take your time. A detour then leads to Naves, a true gem of stone and a designated “village of character,” where medieval alleyways and old-world charm captivate visitors. The return to the bustling heart of Les Vans concludes this getaway.
