The church at Lachapelle-Graillouse was built in the 11th century. Listed as a historic monument, it is called "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption".
It stands on a promontory that also encompasses the main village square and a number of old houses. Like many of the churches on the Ardèche plateau, Lachapelle-Graillouse has a facade that includes a comb-shaped bell tower with four bells of different sizes. 1041, the year the church tower was built, is engraved in large, legible figures on the inside of one of the two pillars in the middle of the tower.
As part of the masonry, two sculptures of birds can be seen, one inside the heart, the other in the nave of the church. Those who speak the local dialect will know whether they are grailles or grails. Two human faces are carved at the base of the uprights of one of the side chapels.
