Medieval site & fortified chapel

Overlooking the village, the medieval site was built by the monks of the Cruas abbey in the middle ages as a refuge in case of flooding and wars. The fortified chapel in the 14th century looks like a castle, but was for the worship.

The large Romanesque chapel from the 12th century was fortified with the construction of angles’ turrets, brattices and machicolation crowned with battlements, in the 14th century.
