Jardin de Bésignoles
The Bésignoles garden is a private garden in Privas. It can only be visited by guided tour by appointment.
Small in size, it offers a range of exotic atmospheres and a great diversity of plants, with over 600 different species.
The guided tours also explain how our street is being transformed into a garden street by its residents.
The gourmet tours are classic guided tours of the garden that end with tastings of 2 drinks and 3 delicacies made with yuzus and other rare citrus fruits from the garden.
The Bésignoles garden is a little corner of the exotic located in Privas in the Ardèche. This intimate garden is laid out in a succession of spaces with different immersive atmospheres. Plants from the 4 corners of the world, as well as the various calades, stone mosaics, ponds, huts, aviaries and greenhouses create an eclectic and exotic universe, an invitation to travel!
And when you open the blue gate, you’re in for a surprise: you’re somewhere else…
Despite its small size, this garden is home to a great diversity of plants, with a selection of over 600 different species. The exotic-looking plants form a dense vegetation ensemble, playing on the contrasts and textures of the foliage.
The Bésignoles garden was awarded the second Bonpland prize in 2015 by the Société Nationale d’Horticulture de France and the “Coup de cœur” prize by the Parc et Jardin de Rhône-Alpes association in 2015.
Thanks to these awards and numerous publications in the specialist press and on television, the garden is now internationally renowned. In 2022, part of the JARDIN DE BESIGNOLES was recreated at the Kiffissia Garden Festival in Athens.
The garden is constantly evolving, with new plantings and landscaping added every year. For some years now, the garden has even extended beyond its walls. The Bésignoles garden is part of a community initiative involving local residents to transform the street into a garden street.
Guided tours are available from April to October, subject to registration. It’s an invitation to discover the astonishing world of the garden and the collective rue-jardin approach.

Private guided tours: on specific dates from April to October, and by booking only.
Guided tours for organised groups: by appointment throughout the season.
Full price: 6 to 15 € (standard guided tour: €6 per person — gourmet guided tour: €15 per person.)
Group adults: from 60 € (basic package for groups of fewer than 10 people — €6 per person for each additional person (maximum of 14 participants)).
Standard guided tour: €6 per person.
Gourmet guided tour: €15 per person.
