Parchment Museum

Experience a family business listed as a Rare Craft since 2011 and approved as a Living Heritage Business in 2013.

One of the few museums dedicated to parchment, this is one of the last three parchment factories in France. The museum gives you the chance to discover the history of parchment and the trade of parchment maker, which has been listed as a Rare Craft since 2011. You can also learn more about working with hides and admire the last hide dryer in Annonay, a town renowned for its expertise in tanning since medieval times. You'll get to know the Tannerie Parcheminerie Dumas through its history, the diversity of trades associated with the activity and the varied uses of the finished product. You'll watch parchment being made from the glass gallery overlooking the parchment factory.
