Chapeau du Gendarme

The "Chapeau de Gendarme" spring takes its name from the rock at this spot, which resembles the shape of a bicorne. The clearing, dotted with waterholes, is ideal for a cool picnic.

HISTORY: In 1949, aware of the region's growing development and water needs, the Town Council took the bold step of tapping the "Chapeau de Gendarme" spring. In the past, a rock in the shape of a bicorne marked this picturesque spot, now immortalised at the top of the reservoir that has taken its place. Every day, as part of a ritual, the guard, Mr Gior, would turn on his motorbike petrol pump, breathing life and vitality into the whole region by drawing on this nocturnal reserve to supply our region with pure, clear water. A captivating story of insight and ingenuity, engraved in the memories and landscapes of our charming locality.
