La Cave de la Roche is a small private winery: I'm Roland Thoumelin, an organic farmer-winemaker. I started my business in 2020. I offer a 100% Syrah red wine ("l'élan soudain"), a single cuvée and around 3,000 bottles a year. Mind you, there won't be enough for everyone. The vineyard of just over one hectare is located in Marsaz (26), close to the Etang du Mouchet and the Eaux de la Veaune. The miniature winery is located on the heights of Bren (26). I try as far as possible to work on living soil, without tillage and with a minimum of tractor passes to avoid compaction. The aim is to practice environmentally-friendly viticulture. Harvesting is done by hand. In the cellar, I vinify with indigenous yeasts and use far less sulfur than the usual doses, dispensing with all the usual subterfuges. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats and oak barrels. The wine is unfiltered.
