Ferme de Garagnon

Cédric Berthet-Pilon set up as an organic farmer in 2021, with the aim of making a comfortable living from it alongside his partner. Together with Chloé Bouvarel, they bought an old farmhouse dating from 1688, which took them a year to restore and turn into their home, situated 150 metres from their 1.3-hectare plot of cultivated land. His vegetables are highly regarded and in great demand amongst the local residents.
Originally from the Voiron region, with a background in socio-cultural activities and holiday camps, he changed career at the age of 35 and discovered organic market gardening whilst working with a grower in Condrieu. Over the course of four years, he trained in the trade and learnt to care for the land, respect living things and grow seasonal vegetables sustainably and responsibly, both in the open field and in greenhouses.
Cédric Berthet-Pilon’s project aims to develop a production process that meets the expectations of local residents, who are keen to buy tasty, locally sourced, certified produce that follows the rhythm of the seasons. He therefore took the necessary steps and quickly obtained organic certification, enabling him to sell his produce successfully at markets. He sells at two nearby markets: on Tuesdays in Satillieu and on Thursdays in Saint-Vallier.
He has built a relationship of trust based on a rotating selection of cardoons, cabbages and seasonal vegetables. This approach involves alternating between different botanical families as crops are rotated, as well as different types of vegetables (leafy greens, fruiting vegetables, root vegetables) – all seasonal, healthy and full of flavour. He has set up four climate-controlled greenhouses, but Cédric Berthet-Pilon is confident and works tirelessly to offer the very best to his customers.
