Mohair from Planzolles
Angora goat farming in Planzolles and sale of products derived from wool processing: mohair in the form of skeins, sweaters, socks, hats, gloves, scarves…
Angora goats are a hardy breed, remaining true to what they were 4,000 years ago in the high plateaus of Anatolia in Turkey. The herd consists of 33 adult goats, both females, castrated bucks, and a breeding buck, as well as 10 kids born this year. They graze for 3 to 4 hours a day throughout the year and then shelter in the goat shed.
They are sheared twice a year, and I (the breeder) clean their fleeces to take them to Castres for the transformation of raw mohair into high-quality ready-to-wear items (sweaters, scarves, socks, skeins…) that I will resell at local markets, including the one in Les Vans.
