Atelier Thérèse, embroiderer and textile artist. Needle, crochet hook and thread are my brushes. Come and discover my dreamlike world in my studio and exhibitions.
Artistic workshops: embroidery on talbour, embroidery on paper, cyanotypes.
Atelier Thérèse is named after my great-grandmother, a pearl embroiderer in the early 20th century who left her native Auvergne to settle in Paris.
A few generations later, I adopted the Lunéville crochet embroidery technique and used it to create precious textile jewellery.
Sitting at my embroidery loom, I create unique pieces using my threads, pearls, sequins and a multitude of other materials.
Inspired by the decorative arts, traditional embroidery motifs from around the world, geometry, medieval iconography, Japan, the natural world around me and so many other sources of inspiration, I let my hook, needles and hands invent shapes and motifs that I then transform into earrings, bracelets, brooches and more.
I also practise photography, cyanotype, poetic writing and embroidery on paper and on engraved or painted canvas in collaboration with Andre Salam.
