Terra Cabra – Peytot, ferme et atelier d'affinage

Twenty goat cheese/Picodon AOP makers and ripeners are opening their doors onto their craftmanship; from their farm to your plate. Visit length: 50 minutes. Terra Cabra is part of the “Ardeche gourmet food trail” promoted by the Ardèche Mountains Regional Nature Park. English tours available, Deutch bezuch, Bezoek in het Nederlands.

Located in Planzolles, above Peytot’s aging cellar and workshop, which gathers twenty cheese producers, this museum is an invitation to discover the goat cheese sector. The aging rooms offers a beautiful insight on the cheese making process and all of its surrounding activities: land maintenance, animal raising, milking, fabrication, and all the chemistry from drying to aging that leads to a Picodon. The museum reveals all the secrets to Picodon’s delicacy. Terra Cabra is informative, but also educational. Children will be able to use their senses to touch, manipulate, watch a documentary, play and answer questions. At the end of the visit, you will taste cheeses at different aging stages; from goat cheese to Picodon in the heart of the Ardèche’s Cévennes.
