Les dolmens – Les Divols – Beaulieu (N°63A)
The oldest known dolmens are found in Brittany and Portugal along the Atlantic coast, and are 1000 years older than those in the Ardeche. The Ardeche dolmens are also contemporary with certain Egyptian pyramids.

Classified historical monument since 1910, this dolmen is well preserved and has been restored many times during the 19th century. A sign on the road D201, about 1,5 km after the village of Bidon towards Bourg-St-Andéol, leads you to it. 100 m walk from the road.

Under strict surveillance ! In 1942 the German army settles on the land and starts to build different constructions, radars and arms. The army left in 1944 and the NATO used those installations. Many dolmens are listed and it shows that people used to live there at Neolithic period.

Dolmen du Ranc de Guilhaumet
This dolmen on the top of the hill Ranc de Guilhaumet (336 metres high), right in the middle of the typical garrigue, is also called « the Giant’s tomb ». Long ago, people used to believe that dolmens were built by giants, fairies or elves.
